Recently, Rimac Technology announced a long-term partnership with BMW Group to provide high-voltage battery units for BMW Group’s product range. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Rimac Technology, representing the largest and most ambitious project the company has undertaken. In order to deliver on this collaboration, sophisticated automated production lines for batteries at the Rimac Campus near Zagreb, Croatia will be established for the project.

As we approach EU Green Week next month, this partnership represents the broader aims of the European Small Volume Car Manufacturers Alliance (ESCA) in developing sustainable automotive practices.

ESCA Research and Development

According to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), the European automotive sector contributes approximately €73 billion towards research development each year, making the sector Europe’s largest private investor in research and development.

Across the financial year of 2022 to 2023, members of the European Small Volume Car Manufacturers Alliance (ESCA) invested over €600,000,000 towards research and development. These investments enable ESCA members to continually push the boundaries of technology, design, and sustainability in their vehicles. By allocating significant resources to research and development initiatives, ESCA members are able to develop cutting-edge technology such as lightweight materials and enhanced safety features.

ESCA advocates on behalf of some of the most recognisable and iconic automotive brands in the world. We work with European and international decision makers to ensure the interests of high performance road and racing cars are represented alongside the mainstream automotive industry.
